Another veteran PG added to the mix
Not even 24 hours after the Hawks draft Jalen Johnson and Sharife Cooper, Travis Shlenk sends Kris Dunn, Bruno Fernando and a 2023 2nd round pick in exchange for Delon Wright. The Hawks were 1 of 3 teams involved in a 3 way deal that included Sacramento, Atlanta and Boston.
Adrian Wojnarowski first broke the news on Friday 7/30 at 6:38pm EST.
The final deal goes as follows:
Hawks receive: Delon Wright
Celtics receive: Kris Dunn, Bruno Fernando and 2023 2nd Round Pick
Kings receive: Tristan Thompson
Delon Wright is a 6’5 combo guard who can play both the 1 and 2. In 2021, Wright averaged 10.2 PPG, 4.4 APG and 4.3 RPG, while shooting 40% from the 3. Wright makes for a very serviceable back up PG and will split the duties along side rookie guard, Sharife Cooper.
With the new addition of Delon Wright, many would assume that this mean Lou Williams will not be resigned. What a wild 24 hours it’s been in Hawks land, and I’m sure Travis Shlenk has a few more tricks up his sleeve…
