How The Trae Stole Christmas….
The Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks theatricals will get a chance to expand this Christmas, as the NBA has elected the Knicks to host the Hawks at Madison Square Garden.
After weeks of predictions giving the 2020 New York Knicks plenty of hype, they were utterly decimated in a 4-1 loss to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs. This series gave Hawks Fans many iconic moments, from Trae hitting clutch shots and jawing with the crowd, to a fan spitting on Young, and best of all, a theatrical bow from Trae to close the series out. The animosity between these two team’s fans and franchises will be evident in this game. While it’s hard to call a team which just got gentlemen’s swept a “rival”, the Hawks should have their hands full with a rowdy New York crowd and a tough Tom Thibodeau team this regular season.
Talent-wise, the Hawks should come away with an easy victory, but with Thibodeau’s tendency to play his best players league-leading minutes, anything is possible. If the NBA was looking to increase their ratings, a rematch of this chippy series on Christmas Day is about the best way to do it. I hope those New Yorkers dress warm, we predict a snow storm coming that day…. #IceTrae
