The Atlanta Hawks added another blowout home victory to their résumé this season. The Detroit Pistons were handily beaten 122-104 at State Farm Arena Monday. After a head-scratching loss in Cleveland over the weekend, the Hawks got back on track over the young Pistons.
Trae Young constructed a 32-point & 9 assist game, and was dazzling all night with his dribble. John Collins chipped in with a workmanlike 22 points and 7 rebounds. Ice Trae and JC had some big highlight plays on the evening. For Collins, it started with a fast break alley-hoop off a Cam Reddish lob, and the other a poster jam on Detroit Pistons power forward, Kelly Olynyk. The Young-highlight was a behind-the-back to a Bogdan Bogdanovic three-pointer.
The best part for Hawks fans was seeing Reddish, Bogdanovic and Kevin Huerter, all have solid games. Reddish continued his hot start to the season and was aggressive from the tip. He finished with 17 points on 5-of-14 from the field. Bogdanovic and Huerter both added 14 points each. The Hawks as a team shot 51.1% from the field compared to Detroits 44.0%.
Detroit entered the evening 0-2 and fell to 0-3 overall. The Pistons keep it close in the first half, cutting the lead for the Hawks, but we’re never threatening. They were lead by two, 21-point performances from Saddiq Bey and Olynyk.
The Hawks hit the road to take on the New Orleans Pelicans, on Wednesday, October 27th.
