If there needed to be a statement game that the Hawks are back, this was it
The Hawks continue the win streak following a 132-100 routing of the Memphis Grizzlies, and it wasn’t even that close. Grizzlies star, Ja Morant fell to an apparent knee injury halfway through the first quarter, and after that, the Hawks opened the flood gates.
Atlanta had three players scoring over 20 points, and at one time, led the game by over 40 points. John Collins is once again proving that his contract was worth every penny, developing into the perfect second star next to Trae. Collin’s filled the stat sheet, posting 21 points, 8 rebounds, 1 block, and one steal. Clint Capela also had yet another 20 point double-double with absurd rebound postings. He finished with 23 points, 17 rebounds, and 3 blocks. However, the Hawks likely wouldn’t have run away with this game as much as they did without the help of superstar Trae Young, who dropped a highly efficient 31 points and 10 assists.
Cam Reddish has also proven himself as a Six-Man of the Year award candidate, dropping 14 points in this game. It seems that all the talk of a broken offense or that last season’s run was a fluke have all drifted away, as McMillian’s offense posted a season-high offensive rating of 132.5. Let’s hope we see much of the same, as the Hawks look to continue their seven-game win streak against what has become their biggest rival, the New York Knicks, tonight at 7:30 on Bally Sports Network.
