Rumors are swirling that the Hawks are eyeing former Pacer’s guard Lance Stephenson.
Stephenson spent his prime years putting dazzling moves on defenders for the Pacers bench and becoming an impact sixth man for a high-end playoff team. In his best year in Indiana, he averaged around 13.8 ppg, 4.2 apg, and 7.2 rpg on around league average shooting splits. I’m sure all of us are fully aware of Lance’s trolling of Lebron in the Eastern Conference Finals, but Lance was a significant role player who made his mark creating his own shot and helping others get their shots up.
When Trae Young leaves the floor, the Hawks have found themselves in a complete drought in both these categories. With it being likely that Trae will be out past Christmas day, Atlanta needed to shore up their guard depth. Regardless of your opinion of who needs minutes, Stephenson should be a decent upgrade to role players such as Lou Williams and TLC. Stephenson also provides excellent veteran leadership and playoff experience for a team that has had trouble finishing games in the fourth quarter. Hopefully we will get to see his impact on full display when the Hawks take on the Magic tomorrow night at 7:30 PM.
