In a surprise move early-Tuesday morning, the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks agreed to a trade. The Hawks agreed to trade forwards, Cam Reddish, Solomon Hill, plus a 2025 second-round pick (via Brooklyn) to the Knicks for forward Kevin Knox and a protected 2022 first-round pick (via Charlotte).
The move may signal to something deeper with the Hawks, and maybe foreshadowing a bigger move in the works for the franchise. The Hawks have been linked to multiple trade partners with a treasure trove of assets in their arsenal.
Reddish, the former 10th overall pick from the 2019 Draft, was averaging 11.9 points per game this season. He will be reunited with his former Duke running-mate, RJ Barrett, in New York. Solomon Hill was ruled out for the season after tearing his hamstring, so it is doubtful that he will play for the team. Plus, Hill is on an expiring contract.
Kevin Knox comes to the Hawks as a former-lottery pick as well. He has appeared in 13 games this season averaging 3.6 points per game.
What are your thoughts on the trade? Do you think something bigger is looming? Let us know your thoughts.
I’m just devastated. We got Kevin Knox and a pick!? The pick is probably mid 20’s, which is a crapshoot. Knox is hot garbage. Reddish is a future all-star. Schlenk got robbed by the Knicks GM, maybe we need him. We are wasting Trae Young’s talents. He’ll probably demand to get traded to NY if things don’t change. So disappointing.
