The 2021-22 NBA regular season is officially in the books for the Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta won its season finale on the road against the Houston Rockets, 130-114. Atlanta finishes the season 43-39 and secured its spot as the ninth-seed for the Eastern Conference’s play-in tournament.
The Hawks controlled this game almost the entire way and they needed to, so they could avoid losing home court for their play-in game. The team shot a scorching 55.3% from beyond the arc and hit 21 three’s on Sunday afternoon.
All of Atlanta’s starting five and sixth-man, Bogdan Bogdanovic, finished with double-digit scoring. Trae Young led the way with a 28-point and 11-assist double-double. His 42nd double-double showing of the season.
Atlanta now faces the task of winning two play-in games to set up a first-round date with the number one seeded, Miami Heat. The Hawks will at least get the benefit of hosting the 9/10 match-up at home against the Charlotte Hornets.
Atlanta split the regular season series with the Hornets this year. Wednesday night’s game against Charlotte will be the ultimate rubber match.
The Brooklyn Nets will host the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 7/8 match-up of the East’s play-in. That game will be on Tuesday night from Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center.
