The Atlanta Hawks are trading Kevin Huerter to the Sacramento Kings for Justin Holiday, Mo Harkless and a future first-round pick. The future first-round pick the Kings are sending is a 2024 lottery-protected first-rounder, if that does not convey the pick is top-12 protected in 2025 and top-10 protected in 2026.
This marks the end of an era for fans of “Red Velvet” or “K’Von” as he is known as in Atlanta. Huerter was drafted 19th overall to Atlanta back in 2018, in the same class that saw Trae Young land with the franchise. Huerter had career averages of 11.4 points, 3.2 assists, and 3.5 rebounds with the team. He is a career 37.9% shooter from beyond the arc, and 43.1% from the field overall. Huerter now heads to Sacremaneto who is remaking their roster around Domantis Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox.
For Atlanta, this adds more depth and length at the wing positions, and another pick to the draft arsenal. Both Holiday and Harkless should be instant rotational players for the Hawks. Justin Holiday is the second Holiday-brother to join the team today, after it was announced that his brother, Aaron, signed a one-year deal.
Holiday averaged 10.1 points, 1.7 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game in Indiana and Sacramento. Harkless appeared in 47 games last season for the Kings and averaged 4.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per game.
