Atlanta dropped its second straight game against the Toronto Raptors on Halloween night in blowout fashion. The Hawks started the game strong, moving the ball and getting open looks, however, about midway into the first period, ball security was careless. The Raptors played a variety of defensive schemes and found success with just about every one of them.
The Hawks finished with six turnovers in the first quarter alone, with Trae Young contributing four of them. The real trouble started just before halftime, when Toronto went on an 11-0 run in only a three-minute span. The lack of effort on the defensive glass gave Toronto the extra chances they needed to run up a lead.
While the third quarter was back and forth, the Raptors blew the game out of the water in the fourth. Trae Young looked lost, finishing the game with 10 turnovers. He also finished with a -29 plus-minus, the worst in a single game for any Hawks in this young season.
Not too much to delve into this one. The Hawks were “out-scrapped” as Coach Nate McMillan put it and have to forget about this one and move on. Atlanta will travel to Madison Square Garden to face the New York Knicks Wednesday night.
