The curse is finally over, with a win against the Washington Wizards last night Atlanta ended its streak of 32 consecutive games being a game within .500 and are now riding a three-game winning streak. Getting hot exactly when they need to be, the Hawks looked flawless against the Wizards. Trae Young led the way with 25 points and a whopping 16 assists.
Consistency was apparent again in this win, with Atlanta never forfeiting their lead after the first frame, and dropping 30+ in each of three quarters. The first quarter was back and forth, and with the 8th seed on the line for the Hawks, they could not risk keeping the game close. Jalen Johnson came in the game and immediately made an impact, dropping 11 points and 5 boards in the first-half continuing his string of high-performance games.
A.J. Griffin finally got his stroke back, with 16 points on 4-6 shooting from three on the game and helped propel Atlanta in the minutes when Young was off the floor. Aaron Holiday also had a handprint on this game, with 3 steals and a block. With the playoffs just around the corner, Holiday utilization should continue, as he is the only back court stopper the Hawks have on the roster and will be a key piece against guard heavy offenses. Atlanta will look to continue its streak against the red-hot Philadelphia 76ers on Friday.
