Atlanta Hawks guard, Trent Forrest, converted an and-one-lay-up attempt, and the go-ahead free throw, with 1.1 seconds remaining to win a 108-107 preseason thriller in Atlanta. Forrest also sealed the victory with a steal off a bad Isaiah Mobley pass to seal the game.
The 2023-24 campaign went underway, and thankfully with a victory. As expected from preseason action, there was not too much action from any of the Hawks’ starters or primary role players. Nights and games like these, are for the Trent Forrest’s of the world and younger talent on the roster, so they can display their talents to the coaching staff and show they could contribute during the regular season.
Forrest led all Hawks’ scorers with 13 points, while also chipping in 2 steals, 2 rebounds and 3 assists. Trae Young and Dejounte Murray played for 16 and 17 minutes each, respectively. The backcourt duo combined for 18 points on 4-of-15 shooting overall.
Atlanta will next host the Memphis Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. eastern, from State Farm Arena.
