Atlanta Hawks At Houston Rockets
The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Houston Rockets on the road, 134-127. They used a hot-shooting first quarter, that saw the Hawks hit eight three’s, to set-up a victory in Houston. Trae Young extended his 30-point/10-assist streak to five games, with 30 points and 14 assists. Bogdan Bogdanovic continued his Sixth Man of the Year campaign, with another 20-point effort off the bench. He finished with 22 points, on 8-14 shooting, with 5 assists, and 4 rebounds.
Atlanta improved to 12-15 overall, and won its second straight game, following their victory at home over the Detroit Pistons Monday.
Atlanta Hawks At Miami Heat
The Hawks fell to the Miami Heat Friday night, 122-113. Atlanta, for the most part, outplayed the Heat the entire game, in a back-and-fourth affair, but a poor-shooting fourth quarter doomed the Hawks and snapped their two-game winning streak. Young extended his 30-point/10-assist streak to six, with 30 points and 13 assists.
Atlanta drops down to 12-16, and are now 0-2 against the Miami Heat this season.
Memphis Grizzlies At Atlanta Hawks
Ja Morant’s return tour came to Atlanta Saturday night. This was the second game of a back-to-back for the Hawks, and they battled the Memphis Grizzlies all night. Desmond Bane and Morant eventually led the Grizzlies to a 125-119 victory on the road. Both players scored 30+ points, and made timely plays down the stretch,
For the second straight game, the Hawks got cold at the worst time possible and let this game slip through their fingers. Young finished with 30 points and 11 assists, extending his 30-point/10-assist streak to seven games. This leaves Trae Young and Oscar Robertson as the only players in NBA history to carry such a streak.
The Hawks will be off until after Christmas, as they look to get back into the win column and with a chance at history in regards to Young. They now have a 12-17 record overall, and need to start stringing win’s together to avoid falling further in the standings. Their next game is in Chicago against the Bulls, the day after Christmas, with an 8:00 p.m. Eastern tip-off.
