Dejounte Murray sent State Farm Arena into a frenzy after a frantic finish between the Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic. Paulo Banchero of the Magic sank a 25-point three-pointer with 9.0 seconds remaining, as the Hawks inbounded the ball to Murray.
There was a bit of confusion as Trae Young looked to Head Coach Quin Snyder for a possible timeout, but Snyder let Murray push the ball. Murray made a couple moves and pulled up for a 17-foot jumper over Orlando’s, Markelle Fultz, and converted the game-winning basket for a 106-104 victory, as time expired.
Murray had a team-high 26 points on 11-18 shooting and tallied another game with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. His backcourt mate, Young, finished with a double-double of 18 points and 12 assists. In an old school-feeling basketball game, Murray and Young played off of each other to secure the win for the Hawks.
Atlanta has now won two straight and will head to Miami Friday for divisional action against the Heat. Miami is 2-0 against the Hawks this season with a win up in Atlanta and one down in Miami. Tip-off for Friday’s action is at 8:00 p.m. from the Kaseya Center in Miami.
