The Atlanta Hawks snapped a four-game losing streak with a win over the Oklahoma City Thunder at home Wednesday night. The Hawks led for much of this one but had to fend off a serious rally-attempt by the Thunder in the second-half.
Atlanta led by as many as 21 points, while OKC never held a lead once in this game. OKC’s, Isaiah Joe, missed a would-be-tying-three-point attempt as time expired, and Atlanta was able sneak away with a 141-138 victory at State Farm Arena.
The Hawks had four players finish with 20+ points, led by Jalen Johnson. Johnson finished with a team-high (and career-high) 28 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and four steals, in 29 minutes of action. He continues to dazzle since his return from injury, and continues his run toward NBA’s Most Improved Player.
Trae Young contributed with 24 points and 11 assists, while Dejounte Murray chipped in 22 points with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Bogdan Bogdanovic continued his Sixth Man of the Year campaign, finishing with 23 points off the bench.
Atlanta improved to 14-19 and will head back on the road to take on the high-flying offense of the Indiana Pacers. The last time these two played was a heart-stopping 157-152 ballgame during the league’s In-Season Tournament. Tip-off for Friday’s matchup is at 7:00 p.m. eastern from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
