For Atlanta Hawks’ fans, not much to write here, as Atlanta was beaten wire-to-wire by the Golden State Warriors, 120-97. Golden State has had an impressive start to the season and is currently the number one team in the Western Conference.
They were led by Andrew Wiggins, who finished with 27 points on 12-of-17 shooting, and future-Hall of Famer, Steph Curry, who poured in 23 points, and was 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Atlanta had one of their poorer-shooting efforts of the season thus far, shooting a paltry-33.3% from the field, and an even more unsatisfying, 26.7% from three. They were even off from the free throw line, shooting 62.5% as a team.
The one bright spot for Atlanta was the return of the cavalry. Bogdan Bogdanovic & Kobe Bufkin returned to action, albeit, unceremoniously, they will be important moving forward once they get their conditioning back. They both combined for 12 points on 4-of-19 shooting.
No Hawks player scored more than 15 points, with Jalen Johnson leading the way with a 15-point & 14-rebound double-double. Trae Young struggled from the field going 4-of-12, and 1-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Atlanta will head to Chicago to tangle with the Bulls Friday night in their third NBA Cup match. They are 2-0 so far in the standings having beaten the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards.
