Trae Young was named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team, as an injury replacement for the Milwaukee Bucks’, Giannis Antetokounmpo. This marks Young’s fourth time as an All-Star, and makes right the injustice of being left off the squad, just a few short weeks ago.
Young had the next most coaches’ votes, which led to an easy decision by commissioner, Adam Silver, to pick Young as the replacement for the ‘Greek Freak’. He will be joining Charles Barkley’s team [as part of the new NBA format] alongside Nikola Jokic (DEN), Shai-Gilgeous Alexander (OKC), Victor Wembanyama (SAS), Pascal Siakam (IND), Alperen Sengun (HOU), and Karl-Anthony Towns (NYK).
The former-Oklahoma product is having maybe his best season as a pro. His scoring numbers have dipped but he is making an impact in many other ways, and just overall matured as a basketball player.
Young currently boasts averages of 23.4 points (lowest since his rookie season), 11.4 assists (currently a career-high), 3.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game. He is shooting 49% from the field, 33.6% from three and 85.7% from the free-throw strike, in about 36 minutes a game.
