Atlanta Hawks star guard, Trae Young, signed the dotted line on a five-year designated rookie maximum extension, which can be worth up to $207 million.
The total base of his contract is worth $172 million guaranteed. Much like Utah Jazz guard, Donovan Mitchell, Young’s contract has a kicker that can balloon his pay to $207 million, if he can make any one of the All-NBA Teams or wins an MVP this upcoming season. He is now the official and youthful face of the franchise. This contract runs through the duration of the 2026-2027 season.
Ice Trae did not leave much thought for Hawks management to make a move. The team was quick to secure their start after a magnificent first playoff run. The NBA season is now only 2 months away and with big contracts come big expectations. The clock is now running for Trae Young to deliver a championship to the city of Atlanta.
Only time will tell, but Young has already cemented himself as one of the game’s elite talents.
