The Atlanta Hawks snapped a three-game losing streak, Monday night at home, with a 117-104 victory over the visiting-Minnesota Timberwolves. Both teams are now at .500, 15-15 for Atlanta, and 14-14 for Minnesota.
Trae Young & Co. spoiled Georgia-native, Anthony Edwards’, homecoming. Young had a game-high 29 points and 7 assists, while shooting 8-of-15 from the field overall, and hit four three’s.
De’Andre Hunter continued his Sixth Man of the Year campaign, pouring in 19 points, but he was not the only star off the bench for Atlanta. Garrison Mathews gave the Hawks a huge boost, hitting seven three’s on his way 25 points. Jalen Johnson finished with a double-double stat-line of 17 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals.
Dyson Daniels, ‘the Hawk that Stole Christmas,’ finished the evening with a career-high, 8 steals! Also, finishing with a game-high positive 16 +/- rating.
Minnesota struggled shooting from the field, finishing 42.9% compared to 53.4% from Atlanta. They were also vastly outscored from three, shooting 32.6%, making 14, while the Hawks shot an even 50%, hitting 18.
Edwards finished with 16 points on 7-of-20 shooting, hitting only 1-of-7 from beyond the arc. Julius Randle added 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Naz Reid led the T-Wolves in scoring with 23 off the bench.
The Hawks will now rest through the Christmas holiday and return to action at home against the Chicago Bulls on Thursday, December 26th.
