The Atlanta Hawks came limping into Tuesday night’s game after back-to-back losses over the weekend. The Indiana Pacers were already underwater having lost three straight but faced a severe disadvantage after Tuesday’s blockbuster trade that saw Domantis Sabonis, Justin Holiday and Jeremy Lamb, being shipped off to the Sacramento Kings. Atlanta took full advantage of the situation and pulled out a wire-to-wire blow-out victory at home, 133-112.
Atlanta came out with the sense of urgency they lacked in losses against the Toronto Raptors and Dallas Mavericks. Indiana never led in this game at any point. The Hawks jumped out to a forty-point first quarter and an 18-point lead, never looking back. Trae Young added another 30-point/10-assist ball game under his belt finishing with 34 points and 11 assists. The team had a fun night with almost everyone on the active roster scoring a basket-the lone man being Skylar Mays.
The Hawks got back to their three-point ways, hitting 17-of-31 on the night, after dismal shooting performances over the weekend. This was a game the Hawks needed and they were able to handle business. Lance Stephenson of Indiana, who played with the Hawks on multiple 10-day contracts this season, had a pretty nice showing. The Harlem-native finished with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists.
Atlanta’s next game is Friday night at home against the San Antonio Spurs. Both teams are currently contending for their conference’s respective play-in tournament. The Spurs are currently two games out of the tenth spot in the West and the Hawks currently hold the Eastern Conference’s tenth spot, by one-and-half games over the Washington Wizards. Atlanta last played San Antonio back in November, winning 124-106 on the road in Texas. Tip-off for this one is at 7:30pm eastern from Atlanta’s State Farm Arena.
