Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Atlanta Hawks have opened preliminary trade discussions revolving around power forward, John Collins. Collins is currently averaging 12.6 points on 49% shooting from the field, 7.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game, in about 32 minutes of action. He is shooting a career-low, 22.7%, from beyond the arc through the first 15 games of the season.
Collins who signed a a five-year extension with the club before the 2021-22 season, still has another three years left on his deal. It seems as if the former-Wake Forest product has been in perpetual trade rumors for about the last three seasons.
It will be interesting to see what type of offers Collins can attract with his subpar play to start the year. But, the trade market isn’t exactly on fire right now, so Collins will definitely draw some interest.
For his career, ‘JC’ has shooting splits of 55.7/36.8/78.5. He has averaged 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game, in his six seasons with the Hawks.
What do you think the Hawks should do? Keep JC or ship him off?
