The Atlanta Hawks made headlines following the All-Star break, dismissing Head Coach, Nate McMillan, following a mediocre first half of the season. They also did not waste much time tracking down their new guy, hiring former-Utah Jazz head coach, Quin Snyder in the same week of McMillan’s dismissal.
Snyder was with the Jazz for eight seasons before leaving his post with the team following numerous disappointing exits in the playoffs.
Snyder takes over a Hawks team that is currently slated as the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference’s play-in tournament, but has some nice pieces to work with, led by Trae Young and Dejounte Murray. Mid-season takeover’s are rare in the NBA, but Snyder is looking to get the Hawks back in contention and will be on the sidelines for Tuesday’s game against the Washington Wizards.
