The Atlanta Hawks will send their star point guard, Trae Young, to represent the franchise in Cleveland for the NBA’s annual All-Star game. Young was voted as an all-star starter for the second time in his young career. His last appearance was in 2020.
Per Mike Conti of Atlanta’s 92.9 the Game, Young is the first Hawks player to be selected as a starter for the All-Star game multiple times since Hawks legend, Dominque Wilkins, who did it back in 1987, 88 & 89. In 43 games this season, Young is averaging 27.7 points per game and 9.3 assists per game, good enough for fifth and third, respectively.
In the Eastern Conference, Young was selected with the following players:
Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL)
DeMar DeRozan (CHI)
Joel Embiid (PHI)
Kevin Durant (BKN)
In the Western Conference, the following players were selected:
Ja Morant (MEM)
Steph Curry (GSW)
Andrew Wiggins (GSW)
Nikola Jokic (DEN)
LeBron James (LAL)
Kevin Durant and LeBron James were the top two vote getters in both conferences. They will select from the total pool of players above in a draft process on February 10th. The actual All-Star game will be played in Cleveland on February 20th.
